With summer coming, the big question on parents mind is " what to do with the kids?" There are answers out there and much closer than you think. Loose Park in beautiful downtown off of Wornall Road and 51st Street. There they have bike and walking paths, places to have a picnic lunch and bring some bread for there are plenty of hungry geese and ducks waiting to be fed. There are Civil War markers along the path talking about how rich Missouri is with history. This could be a great time to sit the kids down for an out door history lesson. One they will remember for days to come. Want more of a stuctored out door adventure. How about the Kansas City Zoo? There children can see so many different types of animals, and still have that fresh air and just being out doors away from the television with some wonderful family time. You can make a complete day out of being in Swope Park and on your way out of the zoo see a wonderful show at Starlight. Or stop by the Lakeside Nature Center and learn more about the animals local right here in their own back yard. Some times finding something to do is as easy as just hoping in your car and following those historical site markers and watching history unravel right in front of you. Sites of historical Civil War battles and journeys from Lewis and Clark. Children love to learn, they are walking sponges just waiting for the knowledge to find them.
