Fall hayrides
Group fall hayride are being offered again this year by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
The rides will be offered Sept. 22 through Nov. 19. Those who register early are more likely to get their first choice of days and times.
Hayrides take place seven days a week at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only at Heritage Park, 16050 Pflumm Road, Olathe. Organized hayrides for groups conclude with a campfire where apple cider and marshmallows will be served.
The hayrides are tractor-drawn, last about one hour, and are followed the campfire gathering, which also lasts about an hour.
Cost is $5 per person, with a minimum of $65 required. A $30 deposit is due at the time the reservation is made and is applied toward the full amount due. A maximum of 25 people per wagon is allowed, and one adult per 10 children is required.
