Microsoft’s World Wide Telescope New "Free Software" now open to the public. As seen all over the news in the USA Today - Microsoft has teamed up with some great technologists and astronomy experts to provide the first true interactive online virtual telescope. Watch the Video of Roy Gould: WorldWide Telescope
Microsoft is planning to release this wonderful project spring 2008 and we are already at April 24, 2008. So far I have found some great sources of links with others who are excited for the new age of teaching astronomy in the classroom this allows for teachers and students to further understand the universe and easy navigate from what I go from the Microsoft’s World Wide Telescope YouTube Video Currently I had the opportunity to cruse on Google Earth getting feedback as I placed my computer mouse on the icons within Google Earth however found it to navigate rather easy. I really did enjoy the virtual tours that are preset such as particular history monuments that we learn in class and on get a chance to see in a book. This gives a very powerful way to view a pin pointed location very easy. Another Tool suggest from a forum I was reading on doing similar to what both Microsoft and Google however it goes into crazy depth for those interested in checking into it visit Celestia http://www.shatters.net/celestia/ - free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. This is going to change how we teach astronomy and how we study and advance with technology with high powered cameras that expose worlds that are no longer invisible to the eye.
